Making the web sweeter
Adobe wanted to see if we could use some of the newer web platform features to bring a rich engaging recipe browsing experience to the open web. Food Network is always looking for more ways to engage their audience, so they agreed, and we teamed up.
I designed and developed the application with cutting edge web features like blend modes and masking to create elaborate textures, engaging animations and transitions. We also integrated hands free navigation for browsing the application with your voice using the web speech API or through gesture using the leap motion hardware.
The resulting application was an engaging and powerful example of what's possible on the web and how it can be used to create the same kinds of experiences we find in native applications. The app was open sourced on github.
